Groffdale specializes in agricultural structures, built often from local pine or oak from our regional sawmills. We conduct a site visit and according to your local codes, map a site for your barn and, address your concerns and priorities. We draw a sketch of the floor plan layout before going to code complaint drawings and permits. Often customers choose a barn from our gallery and make modifications on floor plans and details. We offer customizations to framing and roof type, doors, windows, and hardware. For modular projects, we build in our shop and deliver a structure to your property, where we set it on buried concrete columns, square it up, and affix lean-tos, doors and windows to your specifications.

For restorations, we conduct a site visit and assess what needs to be replaced, or rebuilt, with consideration to your needs. By virtue of our lineage of craftsmen, we have ‘seen it all’, regarding building techniques and have even participated in official historical restoration projects. We offer sensible solutions, as we understand the importance of functionality of agricultural buildings.

Pictured above is a custom horse barn in Berks County, PA. From a concrete slab, we frame in our standard style (notice how substantial the rough-sawn oak members are), using dimensional lumber for our joists and rafters, and sheet stock for floors and roofing. On this example, we used Hemlock mortise and tenon timber framing for the lean-tos, which add flourish.
