Pittenger Barn

The Pettinger in Andover New Jersey is a lovely Monitor Barn, built with our standard oak framing in shop, and delivered in two modular sections, where the rafters were tied in to the on-site built stick frame of the elevated middle section. Since the rafter on the lean-to side extends such a great length and ties in to the center framing, it makes for a stronger roof. Often, monitor barns feature elevated ceilings to let all the light from those upper windows pour down into the center aisle, along with increasing ventilation. In this instance however, the lofted portion is enclosed for hay storage and potential office space, which of course is a great use for the window light too. This Barn features a wash stall, feed and tack room, and four horse stalls. The center aisle is a poured concrete slab, and there are rubber mats fitted into each stall.

Litchford Barn

We set this modular horse barn atop pillars buried into the ground; our standard, but this time we retained four feet of drop with a six by six wall. The effect is a high and dry small barn with a great little ramp for access into the stable. The tack room in the middle is closed in on the top, so above the ceiling there is hay storage, pleasantly close to the stall. The stall furthest to the right is an open run-in storage bay adding a fun flexible utility.

Ward Barn

The Ward Barn is a small and sleek design featuring two horse stalls and a hayloft. With a 28 by 32’ footprint with the 8’ lean-to, and tongue and groove siding, the eye’s path along the accents of the cupola and windows, and standing seam roof is unencumbered from the battens of our usual style. To add to this effect, the color scheme is timeless yet bold. With a pent roof above the sliding doors on the gable end, the doors will stay more dry and the splash of color breaks up the design in a way that otherwise would be left to the rhythmic battens. One of our most requested points of departure designs, let the Ward barn inform your choices in the visual push and pull of your barn.

Passarello Barn

While the Passarello Barn may not look like a modular, we can ration it out imagining the standard construction with a modification on the upper floor, using instead a gambrel roofline. The difference in the headroom that a two-stage roofline affords is astounding, and brings lots of character to the picture. The barn features a gable extension, and dutch doors along the gable end. Two pairs of traditional sliding barn doors grace the broad sides, with a driveway leading up to them, technically also making this into a bank barn. This barn exudes a sense of security among the elements, and practicality for sheltering horses.
